The Ideals of Pedagogy

Jinou Girls High school was established in 1948 by the hard work of our ancestors. All the principles of the school have successively worked toward obtaining better resources and enhancing the morale of the students and the school in general. Our school is well known for the quality of its education and for upholding the ideals of “Honesty, Simplicity, Diligence and Persistence” through the means of a good balance between general education and physical training.

Campus

Jinou Girls High school is located in the downtown district of Taipei. Its modern buildings overlook the magnificent views of the National Taiwan Democracy Memorial Hall. There is also an efficient public transportation network, with regular buses traveling to and from different districts.

The School’s branch division is located in Yonghe City, Taipei County. It is on the famous Art Street, by the Hsindian River near Zhongzheng Bridge. The Yonghe Campus is famous for its European-style buildings , quiet and beautiful surroundings. It’s one of the best environments for studying. It is also located near the MRT station. Besides the present lines, in the near future, after the new MRT line is finished, it will provide still another alternative in public transportation.

Goals and Departments

In order to keep up with the fast moving world, Jinou has been successfully reformed from a professional institution to a consolidated one. Students earn the qualifications to apply for colleges, while obtaining well-trained professional skills.

After three fulfilling years in Jinou, graduates choose whether to continue schooling or to enter the workforce. Those who desire higher education apply to different universities and colleges, and many receive admittance.

We also offer courses in the Department of Data Processing. Training the students to become familiar with system applications relevant to actual data processing. The Department of Business Affairs gives students professional knowledge and skills for business management. The Department of Applied Foreign Languages, which includes both English and Japanese, prepares the students with a strong second language background. In order to develop real mastery over the language, we provide students with various kinds of advanced learners texts and materials emphasizing on listening, speaking, reading and writing. Besides,
we also offer courses in Dept. of Child Protecting, Dept. of Logistics Service , Dept. of Advertisement, Dept. of Academic Natural Science and Dept. of Academic Social Science. All of the courses give the students a variety of choices .

Teaching Features

Language is the fundamental of all subjects and the basis of education. For these reasons, we put great emphasis on language teaching. Compared with other content area teachers, teachers who teach Chinese are the largest group of teachers attending workshops or seminars outside the school for professional growth. We often invite college professors and renowned writers to come to our school and to make a speech on their teaching and writing experiences. Besides, a variety of activities are open to students, including Chinese composition and poetry recitation contests. On the other hand, English Consulting Corps of Taipei is invited once a year and exchanges teaching strategies and ideas with teachers in our school. We engage students in hands-on English learning activities, such as dictionary usage, sentence-making, English conversation, singing, and English drama contests. To promote potential for academic success, students who demonstrate superior language abilities and have a good character are eligible to apply for School Scholarships to a study tour. All in all, we recognize teaching and learning to meet the individual and diverse learning needs of all students is able to enhance teaching efficacy.

In the 21st century computers have become one of our living essentials. We recognize the importance of computing skills and encourage our students to earn the qualification of several national computing certificates by offering relevant information and the most up-to-date computer language courses. Our multi-media system and convenient Internet access further enhances students’ learning experiences.

School Faculty

The faculty on campus are all professionally trained to meet our students needs. . Both academic and personal consultations are available for each and every student. There are currently 244 specialized teachers on our staff, in which a third of our teachers have completed their master’s or doctoral degrees.

Academic conferences are held for teachers to review and modify their teaching materials on a regular basis. Teachers constantly renew their teaching strategies to enrich the content of their classes.
